MG-SOFT MIB Browser Professional Edition with MIB Compiler is an extremely flexible, technically superb, powerful and user-friendly SNMP Browser. All that makes MG-SOFT MIB Browser the most widely used SNMP Browser running on Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008).
A version for Linux operating systems is also available.
MIB Browser lets you monitor and manage any SNMP device on the network (i.e., file or database servers, modems, printers, routers, switches,...) by using the standard SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols over IPv4, IPv6 or IPX networks. Along the standard SNMPv3 USM security model, MIB Browser also supports the Diffie-Hellman key exchange model, so that DOCSIS-based SNMPv3 agents (i.e., cable modems, cable modem termination systems, set-top boxes etc.) can be seamlessly contacted and managed.
MIB Browser allows you to perform SNMP Get, SNMP GetNext, SNMP GetBulk and SNMP Set operations. Besides, the software lets you capture the SNMP Trap and SNMP Inform packets that were sent from arbitrary SNMP devices or applications on the network.
Features
- Support for SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols over UDP or IPX transport layers .
- Support for the IPv6 protocol (Internet Protocol Version 6). MIB Browser can perform all SNMP operations also over IPv6 networks .
- Support for all SNMPv3 USM security modes: HMAC-MD5 or HMAC-SHA authentication; CBC-DES privacy. Implemented is also support for the CFB-AES-128 privacy protocol, which enhances the standard USM with a strong, 128-bit CFB-AES privacy protocol .
- Support for the DOCSIS Diffie-Hellman key ignition algorithm (non USM), for seamless management access to the DOCSIS-based SNMP agents, like cable modems, cable modem termination systems, set-top boxes, etc. .
- Support for all SNMP protocol operations: GET, GET NEXT, GET BULK and SET.
- Support for receiving SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 TRAP messages as well as SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 INFORM messages. Receiving notifications on arbitrary UDP(IPv4 or IPv6) or IPX ports. During the startup, the software verifies notification reception status .
- Supports sending SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 TRAP and SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 INFORM messages.
- SNMP agent profiles. To facilitate managing different SNMP agents, MIB Browser now lets you configure and use SNMP agent profiles. Each profile stores all parameters required for accessing and managing a particular SNMP agent on the network. SNMP Agent Profiles window can be accessed throughout the application .
- Managing SNMPv3 USM user configuration on remote SNMP agents. MIB Browser provides a convenient and user-friendly interface for managing SNMPv3 USM users on remote SNMPv3 agents. The USM user management operations include 'cloning' SNMPv3 USM users, changing their secret authentication and privacy keys, as well as enabling, disabling and deleting USM users .
- Generic SNMP Trace window displays SNMP messages exchanged between MIB Browser and SNMP agents. With this feature you can trace SNMP requests sent from any MIB Browser's window, responses to sent SNMP requests as well as received SNMP Trap and Inform notification messages. Traced SNMP messages are displayed in raw hexadecimal dump format as well as in the decoded, human-readable format. All in all, the Generic SNMP Trace window is particularly useful for debugging when developing SNMP agents and for resolving problems in queried SNMP agents
- Selectable binding interface. On computers with two or more network cards, the user can select which network card (interface) should be used by MIB Browser for sending out SNMP requests. .
- Supports multiple variable bindings in all SNMP protocol PDUs: GET, GET NEXT, GET BULK, SET, TRAP and INFORM .
- SNMP agent snapshots. MIB Browser incorporates a special window for taking and viewing SNMP agent snapshots. An agent snapshot is a MIB tree-like presentation of MIB objects and MIB object instances including the syntax and values of object instances as retrieved from an SNMP agent at a given time by means of the Walk operation .
- Comparing SNMP agent snapshots. MIB Browser lets you compare two SNMP agent snapshots side-by-side, showing implemented object instances including their syntax and value. Snapshots can be taken either from two different SNMP agents or from one SNMP agent at different times. Now you can specify what object instances implemented in SNMP agents you want to compare. Furthermore, you can save the entire comparison configuration as a session for future use .
- Queried values are resolved and formated according to relevant TEXTUAL-CONVENTION and DISPLAY-HINT MIB definitions.
- SNMP Set window for setting values in remote SNMP agents. Provides a convenient interface for picking the relevant pre-defined values from MIB definitions .
- Supports loading any standard or private MIB module that was previously compiled with MG-SOFT MIB Compiler. Besides, the software can store loaded MIBs files to MIB Groups, so that at any later time the whole group of MIB files can be loaded at once.
MIB Module smart load feature. MIB Browser searches for compiled MIB modules and loads them on the fly, as needed for resolving queried values.
